My Makeup Must Haves For Everyday!

IMG_7761.jpg

Ever since I can remember Ive always loved wearing makeup.  Like every girl, I’ve gone through so many different products, both designer and drug store brands.  For more than a few months I’ve been using the same 4 products for my everyday make-up routine, so I thought I would share these favs of mine that I’m loving!

My first fav essential is my foundation by IT Cosmetics.  For years I had been wearing Giorgio Armani, but after meeting up with a friend and noticing her glowing skin, I literally ran to Sephora to buy and fell in love with IT Cosmetic Your Skin But Better CC+ Color Correcting Full Coverage Cream.   It really smooths out the uneven discoloration without feeling heavy or look cakey.  Another perk is that its hydrating and has anti-aging hydrating serum.

And of course once my skin has looks more even colored from my foundation, I need to add a little color to my cheeks to brighten up my skin.  For years, I’ve been using Nar’s infamous Orgasm Blush.  It give the best natural peachy pink tint to your cheeks.  I recently switched from the cream stick to the powder compact and notice that it looks more natural and last much longer .

Now that my skin is more even toned and blushing, onto the eyes we go. To me someones eyes speak volumes, so I love an eye that pops and looks defined.  I’ve found that liquid liner goes on so much easier and is more defined than pencil.  Ive tested majority of the  drug store liners and have been loving Maybelline Master Precise All Day Liquid Liner.  The name speaks for itself and does last all day.

Last but not least is my new lip gloss obsession by Nar’s Istria.  Since I do prefer more dramatic eye, I like a soft light colored lip.  Istria is the most natural perfect pink tint for lips day or night.   And it never leaves my lips feeling dry, which for an addictive chapstick user is huge.  A definite must try!

So there it is…my 4 must have makeup products for everyday! If you have any amazing finds, would love to hear too!?

Super Chic for Super Cheap Outfit

IMG_6980.jpg

I love when I can put together a look that is Super chic and incorporates all the top trends of the season for super cheap.. The most expensive piece  in this outfit is the blazer for $188, but all the other pieces are under $100,  and my best find shoes are only $34.

IMG_6979.jpgVelvet is one of the “it” fabrics of the fall.  I always love a blazer to complete any look.  This Velvet blazer from J Crew is a great fit for a day or night look.

Sunglasses are an inexpensive way to change your look.  These cat eye shape sunnies are the hot shape for fall and at Zara you can have them for $25.90.

IMG_6969.jpg

I am a huge fan of leather pants for the fall and winter.  They look so great as a day time look with a sweater and of course so hot with a cute top s night.  Velvet By Graham & Spencer Faux Leather Legging ins black are the perfect alternative to leather pants which can easily be $900 and up.

Lastly one of my better finds for this season are thse boots.  Everyone knows I am obsessed with a leopard print and thats why I am obsessed with these boots from Forever 21 which are only $34!!! Love this entire look and the best part is that all of these pieces can be mixed with other clothes in my wardrobe to create other super chic looks for super cheap.

Skin Refresh For Summer!

I felt like my skin needed a little extra help to shed its Winter dullness, so I immediately made an appointment at the Youth Corridor Clinic on the Upper Eastside of NYC.  Obviously the name speaks for itself, but The Youth Corridor is a medical Facility founded by world renowned plastic surgeon and anti-aging expert Dr. Gerald Imber.   I have had facials in the past at spas that offer comfy beds and yummy aromas, but other than an hour of relaxation, the treatment has no lasting benefits.  Thats why when I had initially met with Denise Bissell at the Youth Corridor my expectations were not very high, but to my surprise after my treatments, my skin had immediate and lasting results. Rather than traditional spas that offer a one for all type of treatments, Denise is a medical esthetician and analyses your skins needs and then recommends a treatment and a plan of action for results  One of my favorite treatments is the no peel peel, which is great for getting rid of dead skin and gives your skin a fresh glow.(Download Video to see treatment> IMG_8144

My second favorite treatment is the Yag Laser Treatment, which promotes collagen growth and makes the skin look plump and smooth. Download Video to see treatment>IMG_8140

I also love that both treatments are not harsh and do not require any downtime.  I can literally leave the office and continue my day as normal.  Anytime I have a special event or want my skin to look really amazing, this is the treatments I do.  For actual results prices are not bad either, the peel is $250 and the Yag laser is $495 and right if you mention eye4stylenyc when booking your appointment you receive 20% off all services. Don’t miss out on your glowing skin for Summer and call to book appt 212-472-1800!

How To Create A Personal Style

Your wardrobe is a huge part of how people perceive you.  So how do you create a wardrobe that represents your personal style.

The first step in creating a stylish wardrobe is obtaining the wardrobe staples. These are the basic pieces that will be able to mix and match and go with more personal and trendy items.  Things such as a black blazer, black pants, day jeans, night jeans, white button down, white tee shirt, black pumps etc…Once you have most of the staple items you need to establish what looks best on your body.  What areas of the body do we want to accentuate and what areas do you want to minimize.   Most of the time I find that clients don’t even know what looks best on them.  I’ll show them a different cut or fit than they would normally choose and it ends up being something they love and is the most flattering fit for them.  Its also important to make sure clothes fit correctly, they are not too big, small or too long or short. When clothes fit properly they automatically look more expensive.

After determining the cut and fit that look best, we need to determine what clothes are most functional and practical for your lifestyle.  For instance you are not going to wear stilettos to take your kids to the park, so instead you would shop for some cute walkable and comfy shoes like sneakers or a ballet flat.   If your heading to the office you would shop for more sophisticated shoes.

Now the fun begins and you can start shopping. You walk into a department store and you are staring at 100’s of designers and brands which is completely overwhelming., How do you know what your look and style are.  Are you conservative, funky, super feminine etc. My suggestion is Imitate Imitate Imitate. Whether it is a family member or celebrity who’s style you admire, or even a catalogue from a certain store, this is a great guide to help you shop.

But your not finished yet…After you have your closet filled with clothes you need to make sure that you actually wear them and don’t reach for the usual suspects.  How is this going to happen, well Its simple, you need to plan ahead. Pick out your outfit the night before so when your alarm goes off and time is limited, the one thing that’s done is your outfit and you walk out the door looking and feeling stylish and super fabulous.

Happy Shopping!

My Skincare Routine

I have always had very easy skin that didn’t require a lot of attention, so I was never into skin products. My daily routine was minimal, cleanse with Dove soap and moisturize with a drug store moisturizer.  In my mid thirties my skin started to show signs of aging; wrinkles and puffiness under my eyes. I immediately freaked, and started using eye cream. I tried all the usual suspects, but nothing made a noticeable difference. Always switching from brand to brand. In my late 30’s, after years of sun worshipping, the brown spots started popping up.  You always think that it will never happen to you, but when it does its a reality check. I didn’t want to spend excessive amounts of money at the dermatologist removing the damage, but I hadn’t found any cream that worked either.  It wasn’t until speaking with my friend Rachel, that I was introduced to the skincare line, Rodan + Fields.  At first, what seemed most appealing to me was the way each regimen targeted a specific skin issue. They didn’t have one regimen that claimed to solve everything.  And from someone coming from no skin routine at all, the regimens were a few simple steps, but best of all not expensive.  It has now been exactly 1 year from this month and I am hooked on Rodan + Fields.  Not only did R + F give me a skincare routine, which I have never had before, but their products work! The Reverse regimen reduced the appearance of my brown spots, making my skin look brighter and more even.  And the eye cream minimized the lines around my eyes, like no other cream had.  I also love that you can add in additional products when needed. This winter I found my normal routine wasn’t moisturizing enough, as it did during the warmer months, I tried their Active Hydration Serum #RFGift.
It was literally a life saver for my dry and dull winter skin.  In fact after I had started using the serum, one morning I looked in the mirror and thought my skin didn’t look bright and then I realized that I forgot to put the serum on that morning.  It’s very cool when you can notice a difference from skipping one application. So if you are like me and looking for a straightforward, reasonably priced skincare line that actually does what it says,  I cannot recommend enough. A Basic White Tee Is All You Need Right Now!

This time of year I always struggle to find something to wear.  I don’t want to wear my winter clothes and even though temps are rising, its still too cold to jump into full on spring wardrobe. So what do I wear?  Whenever I am having a wardrobe slump I usually like to take it back to the basics. And for this time of year what better basic than a white T-shirt.    A basic White Tee goes with everything from jeans and sweats to pants and skirts.  It can be fashionable enough to wear on its own or layer it under a sweater, blazer or jacket.  When it comes to finding the perfect White T, its all about the fit and fabric.  I love this one from Free People for $38, its soft, not too sheer or too thick, and cuts just below the waist of my jeans.  So if your feeling anything like me this time of year, take it back to the basic white Tee.  Here are some celebrity looks for outfit inspiration!

Style One Blouse 4 Different Ways!

Versatility is key to a good wardrobe.  You always want to maximize each piece of clothing by wearing it with different things and ways. Creating multiple looks with clothing in your closet will keep your fashion game on point and save you money. Thats why when I’m shopping and find something that stands out, I have to share it with you! Check out this pretty white blouse I found at Pookie & Sebastian last week.  At first glance, it seems like a simple white blouse with a neck tie.  A great blouse to have when you need to be a little more dressed up and sophisticated. But after trying it on, I saw how this one blouse could be styled 4 different ways to create 4 totally different looks. Not bad for a top that is $78, right?Check out this fabulous blouse, which for good reason, P&S named “Kai make your own neckline blouse”.

1. SEXY Let the ties hang down exposing the V neckline.

2. SLEEK Love this sleek look created by just pulling one of the ties slightly through the hole and leaving the other tie undone.

3. SOPHISTICATED A simple bow creates a smart and grown up look.

4. DRESSED UP – Add a rhinestone pin to the bow for a more dressy look.

One Jumpsuit Transformed Into Two Looks

Sometimes an outfit just isn’t quite right.  You know when you put something on and your just not feeling it, like something is missing, but it has potential?  Possibly with the right tweak you could make it fabulous.   Last week I was shopping around Bloomingdales and came across this jumpsuit by Guess. Jumpsuits are so hot right now and the color was just one of those amazing reds, it immediately popped out at me.

Guess is not a brand I often wear, and I wasn’t really sure how I felt about the front leg slits and the high waist, but for $108 it could have been an amazing find or a bomb.  When I got home and tried on the jumpsuit, before looking in the mirror, the fit seemed to be perfect.  But when I looked in the mirror something was off.  Check out below how I took one jumpsuit, that needed a little something, and transformed it to two fabulous looks.

First, I felt that the thin bra like strap made the jumpsuit look a little cheap, so I tucked that in and voila, that added a bit of sophistication.  Then since I have a short torso, I didn’t really like the high waist and long crotch, so to make each look shorter and give me more of a waist I added a thick black leather belt.   I love how this immediately cinched in my waist and almost gave it a pant and top look that was very modern and chic which I loved.  Then tried something a little more delicate and added a vintage Chanel chain belt which gave the jumpsuit a more dressy european look.

See how sometimes with a little tweaking you can really change an entire outfit.  Now I have altered this jumpsuit into two very stylish looks that would be great a cocktail or dinner party or even dinner with my Valentine.

Happy Valentines Day!
Stefanie

Favorite Places To Shop Online

Shopping online has become a way of life.  My mailbox is totally overloaded with emails from stores letting me know about new clothes and seasonal must haves.  I am constantly clicking on those store emails and  perusing to see what all the stores and designers are showing.   So I wanted to share some of my favorite place to shop online.

First and my favorite online store is Intermix. Especially when it comes to dresses for events, Intermix is the first place I look. Intermix is expensive, but they always have the newest designers and styles. And even though I am not spending  $400 on one top, I do a lot of window shopping here and get amazing outfit inspiration.  Also at least once a month they have serious sales of 30-40% off, so I scope out what I like online, try it on in the store (so I know my size since all sale Items are Final) and then I’m ready to purchase if it goes on sale.

Another favorite of mine is Shopbop.  Shopbop is my go to online store for everyday clothes.  They have a large selection of designers in all price points from designers like Rachel Comey and Petersyn to much less expensive brands like BB Dakota and Endless Rose. Even though they have a huge selection of clothing which can be overwhelming online, what I truly love about this site is their category “Trend Edit”.

Trend Edit breaks up their clothing into fun categories that really let you narrow down your search.  For instance they currently have ” Blouse Party”, which features all their blouses, “Rainbow Brights”,  which features all their rainbow striped pattern clothing “modern denim” shows the latest in denim trends and Hang Time which features casual lounge clothes, and this is just to name a few.  Even better is that they are now linked with Amazon Prime so you can receive clothes in 2 days for free.

Revolve is another one of my go to online stores.  This is where I look for super trendy clothing and accessories.  They too carry a large selection of brands and many that are reasonably priced . On Revolve I can always find a fun going out top or vacation dress, clothing that is more fun and not my wardrobe staples.  Revolve is definitely a great fashion resource to keep up to the minute on trends.

These are my favorite places to shop online. I would love to know what your online shopping favorites are?

Roll Out of Bed and Look Fabulous!

Whats your “roll out of bed” look or the outfit you throw on to grab coffee in the morning or take your kids to school. Would you categorize it as hot mess or fabulous?

I was actually surprised, to see first hand early Sunday morning, that most people look like a hot mess.  I was witnessing all sorts of crazy looks.  From the man who was wearing blue socks with loafers and crop sweatpants, to the woman wearing oversized red sweat pants, blue sweatshirt and brown parka that looked like she borrowed from her husband.  Everyone hiding under sunglasses, baseball caps and hoodies, not to be seen in outfits that they would never be caught dead in at a normal time of day.   How great would it be to have an equally comfy, but stylish outfit to throw on.  Most people see someone in a cute outfit and assume they spend hours getting dressed, when it actually takes the same amount of time to put on a sloppy, unstylish outfit as it does a stylish one.   Having great style is 50% of what you wear and 50% planning ahead. If you put together one or two comfy outfits and have them accessible to grab on the go, you will have an outfit that that you can feel good in, as oppose to an outfit you are hiding in. Check out some cute options I picked out for you to create your own roll out of bed outfit and look fabulous!
